We’re looking for an assistant print editor to play a significant role in the team producing a vibrant, high quality engaging print version of the Guardian’s daily news coverage. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract or staff secondment. The working pattern will include regular Sunday shifts.
About the role- Plan and produce a compelling, well‑judged and dramatically presented Guardian newspaper each day
- Work closely with and support the editor of the daily print edition to produce the best possible newspaper
- Ensure that news stories already published on the website are well edited and repurposed for the paper
- Work closely with pictures and graphics teams to ensure strong visual presentation across the print edition
- Work with, and have strong relations with, the national, financial, international, features and sports desks
- Collaborate with the news designers and production staff to ensure timely production of the paper
- Excellent knowledge of, and interest in, current affairs
- Established track record as a journalist in a busy newsroom
- Strong editing experience in a fast‑moving environment
- Understanding of Guardian values
- Thorough knowledge of demands of print
- Good knowledge of media law
- Ideally, you’ll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role
