Lay Non-Executive Director and Members Required for ACP Board and Committees: The Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) is the professional body for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists in the UK. It is an Accredited Register of the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) and is responsible for regulating the training and practice standards of child and adolescent psychotherapy across the NHS, third, and private sectors.

We want to increase and diversify our geographical spread across the UK of the community of people who contribute to the crucial work of the ACP. We need a range of voices and experience to advance standards, promote child psychotherapy, and support members. Lay Members may bring specific areas of expertise from their professional backgrounds such as business, finance, law, marketing, and communications or have experience within the wider health, social care, and voluntary sectors that will add to the breadth and depth of knowledge that informs the running of the ACP.

We are currently seeking people with an interest in one of the following roles:

  • Lay Non-Executive Directors on the ACP Board: The role description for Non-Executive Directors can be found here in the documents section. To discuss this role, please contact Dr Lynne Taylor, ACP Chair.
  • Lay Members of Training Council: This council sets training standards and accredits training providers. For more information, email Jessie Woods, Director of Training.
  • Lay Members of Professional Standards Committee: This committee sets standards of practice and supports members to achieve these. It is important to support members working in independent practice and voluntary organisations as well as the NHS. For more information, email Jo Goldsmith, Director of Professional Standards.
