Grounds Maintenance Contract Manager Exeter | £27 – 31k + car, 10% pension, private medical Our client is a land-owning quality open space management company with a growing diverse portfolio of over 320 housing developments throughout England and Wales. They are seeking a Contract Manager to oversee the management and sub-contracted maintenance of public open spaces across the South West—covering Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall. Who they’re looking for: Hold a degree in Horticulture, Ecology, or Conservation, or have equivalent experience in a similar role, or 3 years’ experience at operative/supervisory level in grounds maintenance. Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and manage both short-term and long-term objectives for developments. A desire to deliver high-quality grounds maintenance services. Effective communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Proficiency in IT tools. A full, clean driving license. Ecological and horticultural credentials or a keen interest are desirable. The Role: The Contract Manager will oversee management and subcontracted maintenance of public open spaces across developments in Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall. This role is suitable for experienced grounds maintenance personnel seeking a managerial position or a seasoned Contract Manager with horticultural interests. Key Tasks: Daily liaison with subcontractors to ensure contract compliance. Conducting regular inspections using a tablet-based app to ensure quality and safety standards. Building strong relationships with subcontractors, including training and skill enhancement. Producing monthly reports for the regional Operations Manager. Inspecting playground equipment (training provided) and coordinating repairs. Engaging with residents and responding to queries with excellent customer service. Adhering to best practice guidelines. Identifying opportunities for amenity and biodiversity improvements. This position requires a satisfactory DBS check and a valid driving license. Suitable candidates include those with backgrounds as Grounds Maintenance Supervisors, Landscape Contract Managers, Soft-Landscaping Supervisors, Estates or Parks Managers, Green-Spaces Team Leaders, Arboriculture or Ecology Officers, or Facilities Grounds Managers.
