Purpose of the role:
The eBook Sales Specialist role is an exciting opportunity to work in a market which is often at the forefront of new trends and changes. It requires insight and the ability to creatively find ways to drive eBook growth within academic and government markets, while adapting to changing market conditions and customer demands. You will have the opportunity to work with the North-Western Europe team to contribute to and shape the eBook strategy for the market and the implementation thereof. You will be part of a team with a strong future vision and sales drive.
Role Responsibilities:
- Together with Licensing Managers, drive eBook sales growth by expanding the portfolio of customers and eBook products in the region.
- Negotiate and close renewal and new business with an understanding of the margins required.
- Work closely with Licensing Managers to support the negotiation and closing of high-revenue deals (renewal and new business).
- Foster customer engagement with Springer Nature's eBooks through a high level of interaction including site visits, conferences and presentations.
- Maintain a healthy eBook sales pipeline.
- Collaborate with internal departments and staff to ensure sales growth, and the development of new sales channels.
- Stay abreast of the eBook industry trends and actively participate in the library/scholarly community.
Key relationships:
- Internally with multiple departments including sales management, marketing and account development, customer services and market intelligence.
- Externally with all assigned and potential clients.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
- Degree educated or equivalent experience.
- Commercial skills and proven sales successes.
- Knowledge of or experience in the STM publishing business.
- Basic knowledge of academic and governmental licensing.
- Ability to analyze financial, market and competitive information.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Ability/willingness to travel regularly.
- Excellent MS Office skills with a specific emphasis on MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills to large audiences.
- Well-organized, pro-active, result driven.
- Participation at sales conferences, library shows and customer events.
- Experience in a business-to-business environment as a sales/account manager.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of or experience in the STM publishing business.
