Redwood Publishing Recruitment is working with a long-standing weekly publication in their recruitment for an Associate Editor, to join their expanding editorial team. Based in London, our client provides coverage of national and international news in both print and digital formats.
Reporting to the Managing Editor, you will have substantial editorial experience, a passion for journalism, with strong writing and editing skills, plus the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Editing and proofreading articles, ensuring adherence to editorial standards;
- Writing and commissioning news stories, opinion pieces, and breaking news coverage;
- Assisting the senior editorial team in commissioning, editing and publishing content for both print and digital platforms;
- Working closely with reporters, freelancers, and contributors to ensure high-quality content is produced on schedule;
- Helping with editorial planning for both weekly print and digital output;
- Providing support to the Deputy Editor, Editor and other senior editorial staff.
The ideal person will have demonstrable experience in an editorial position gained within a fast-paced news environment. Strong editorial and writing skills with an impeccable command of the English language will be important as will be your accurate editing and proofreading skills. A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, you will have first-class time-management experience and will be able to handle multiple tasks, meeting deadlines simultaneously.
Familiarity with digital journalism tools and platforms, including CMS systems, SEO and social media are important for this role as are experience of editing and proofreading, with a keen eye for detail. An understanding of the Jewish community's interests would be an advantage.
