Overview
Guardian Industries is recruiting for a Maintenance Technician role within our Goole, East Yorkshire facility. The plant operates a 24/7 manufacturing environment and has invested in a new furnace to secure glass manufacture for the next 20 years. The plant is a lower tier COMAH site and part of a team that supports internal customers.
What You Will Do
- Drive continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives
- Support a proactive safety culture
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment
- Perform day to day activities of the Maintenance department, including but not limited to:
- Breakdown rectification / resolution / follow-up completion
- Planned maintenance activities
- Improvement activities
- Strive to improve equipment reliability
- Demonstrate ability and knowledge to maintain machinery in good repair
- Assist in decision making to repair or replace equipment
- Troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining manufacturing process equipment
- Ensure machinery is safe to operate
- Install and maintain safety equipment
- Flexible, adaptable, ability to work overtime
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Have a recognised craft apprenticeship in mechanical engineering
- Fabricating experience (desirable)
- Be qualified to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (desirable)
- Experience of compressor & vacuum systems
- Experience with conveying systems
- Experience with mobile handling equipment
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good teamwork capabilities with the ability to self-motivate and work on own initiative
- Contribution mindset to continually improve and transform yourself and the business
What Will Put You Ahead
- More than five years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician
- Knowledge to repair and maintain belt conveyors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Be qualified to HNC level in a relevant discipline
- FLT/MEWP experience
