Guardian Industries invites you to apply for the Shift Electrical Operator role at our Goole plant in East Yorkshire, UK. Our facility operates 24/7 and has recently invested in a new furnace that will secure glass manufacturing for the next 20 years.
Your Job
We are looking for an experienced shift electrical engineer responsible for providing comprehensive maintenance and electrical breakdown service and support to our production department.
Our Team
Reporting to the Maintenance Shift Manager, you will ensure processes and technologies perform at optimal levels to meet key production and business objectives.
What You Will Do
- Respond to production risks and OEE impact events to provide stable operations.
- Maintain safety standards and ensure safe working procedures are adhered to.
- Work under the rules of Electrical and Mechanical safety systems and apply risk reduction and control using process safety fundamentals.
- Identify failure modes of electrical equipment and provide recommendations to prevent further failures.
- Diagnose and repair equipment issues and return equipment to operation safely and efficiently.
- Maintain and fault‑find PLC/PC‑controlled automated systems.
What You Will Provide
- Formal technical qualification (minimum level 3) in Electrical Engineering and familiarity with the 18th Edition IEE Regulations.
- Sound knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
- General knowledge of safety and control circuits, motor control, instrumentation, PLCs, and modern drive systems in a continuous process industry.
- Willingness to contribute, identify opportunities to improve and help maintain and improve equipment availability.
- Ability to fault‑find in a PLC/PC‑controlled automated system is an advantage.
- Willingness to learn and share within knowledge networks.
