In the UK, Guardian is continually looking for talented individuals to help it continue their growth and presence in the regional market. AllUKmanufacturing is based on site from the plant in Goole,East Yorkshire, which has recently made a significant investment in a new furnace which uses advanced technology and will secure glass manufacture at the site for the next 20 years. The plant can produce some of the most advanced and innovative energy‑saving architectural glass on the market today. The plant is a lower‑tier COMAH site which operates a 24 / 7 manufacturing environment.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Shift Manager responsible for leading a high‑performing team. The successful candidate will support the engineering and operations functions to improve the sites’ reliability and equipment availability performance.

Reporting to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager, you will ensure people, processes, and technologies are working at optimal performance to meet business objectives.
What You Will Do in Your Role
- The Maintenance Shift Manager is responsible for leading and managing the maintenance team to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective maintenance of plant equipment and facilities. This role involves coordinating maintenance activities, providing technical guidance, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The Maintenance Supervisor plays a key role in minimising downtime and maximising equipment reliability.
- Embrace influential leadership to support the organisation while advancing our Principle‑Based Management (PBM) culture.
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Ensure maintenance practices comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead and participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with other departments, including operations, engineering, and procurement, to support overall plant performance and achieve operational goals.
The Experience You Will Bring
- Basic Qualifications : NVQ L3 Engineering Modern Apprenticeship
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, equipment maintenance, reliability, and standard maintenance work processes
- Supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- A desire to understand the root cause and contribute to the reduction in equipment downtime risk.
- Experience using CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with various stakeholders.
