Are you a recruiter looking to step away from sales but still want to use your skills to help people into work? Many recruiters don’t realise there’s a whole sector dedicated to careers advice and employment support, and it could be the perfect next step if you’re looking for more meaning in your day-to-day.
As an Employment Advisor, you’ll support people who face barriers to finding work, helping them gain confidence, develop skills, and access opportunities. You’ll still be matching people to jobs, building employer relationships, and using your recruitment instincts just without the sales targets or business development calls.
The role is based in Biggleswade, working as part of a small and friendly team of two. You’ll manage a caseload of around 70 people referred via the Job Centre, typically individuals who need a bit of extra guidance, structure, or practical help to get back into employment.
Day-to-day, you might:
- Help someone build or improve their CV
- Talk through local opportunities that match their career goals
- Liaise with local employers to connect them to job-ready participants
- Refer people to confidence-building or training support
- Remove practical barriers such as arranging travel or workwear for interviews
This is a target-driven role, so you’ll need to stay organised and results-focused, but instead of sales KPIs, you’re working toward life-changing outcomes.
If you’ve enjoyed candidate-side recruitment and want to move into a more meaningful, advisory role, this is a fantastic introduction to the employability and careers support sector.
To apply, you must have good experience working in recruitment. Or you might have worked as a Careers Advisor, Employment Advisor, Employer Engagement Consultant, or Job Coach.
