Location: Reading Job Type: Contract: 6 months+ Rate: £40/hr (Ltd - outside IR35) Must have full right to live and work in the UK, and be eligible for SC. We cannot accept applications from non-ITAR residents or people who are currently outside of the UK About the Role We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability and safety of advanced systems for aerospace and defence applications. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly regulated environment, supporting products throughout their full lifecycle — from design and development through manufacturing, maintenance, and field support. You will help ensure products and processes meet the demanding requirements of our customers and regulatory authorities Key Responsibilities * Develop and maintain quality systems and procedures in compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, EASA Part 145, military standards and applicable aerospace/defence requirements. * Conduct audits, inspections and surveillance activities to ensure compliance with approved maintenance data, MOE procedures, regulatory requirements and quality standards. * Investigate non-conformities, quality escapes and maintenance errors, applying root-cause analysis and leading effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). * Drive product, supplier and lifecycle quality, supporting new product introduction, supplier quality, failure analysis, field returns, customer complaints and continuous improvement. * Champion quality across the site, providing quality metrics and reports to management while promoting compliance, best practice and a strong culture of continuous improvement. About You We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer with a strong background in a highly regulated environment, ideally within aerospace, defence or electronics. Essential Experience & Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Quality, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related technical discipline. A Master's degree would be advantageous. * 5+ years' experience in a Quality Engineering role within aerospace, defence or a similarly regulated industry. * Experience working with electronic systems or complex technical products. * Strong knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems. * Proven experience with root-cause analysis and corrective action methodologies, including 5 Whys, Fishbone and 8D. * Familiarity with Military Standards and relevant government and industry regulations. * Experience with EASA Part 145 requirements and MRO quality processes. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use quality data to identify trends and drive improvement. * Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
