About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Inspector with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) experience to join our quality team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail who is passionate about maintaining the highest quality standards within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.

Working closely with production and engineering teams, you will be responsible for inspecting precision components, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out first-off, in-process, and final inspection of machined components.
  • Operate and programme CMM equipment to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Use a range of manual measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
  • Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation.
  • Investigate and report non-conforming products, supporting root cause analysis where required.
  • Work closely with production teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all inspection activities comply with company quality procedures and ISO 9001/AS9100 standards where applicable.

About You

The successful candidate will have

  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Inspector, Quality Inspector, or CMM Inspector within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
  • Practical experience operating and, ideally, programming CMM equipment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience using a wide range of precision measuring instruments.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Experience within aerospace, automotive, medical, defence, or other high-precision manufacturing sectors.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
  • Familiarity with CMM software such as PC-DMIS, Aberlink, or similar.
