About the Company

We are an engineering consultancy delivering complex systems across the UK rail network. With a strong track record in station rebuilds, upgrades, and major network extensions. Our team is expanding, and we’re now looking for an experienced System Engineer (BMS) to join us on a contract basis.

Role Overview

This is a systems-focused engineering role, not controls programming. You will be responsible for designing how Siemens Desigo BMS systems integrate with mechanical plant equipment, ensuring all elements communicate effectively and identifying any compatibility issues early in the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design BMS integration with HVAC systems (AHUs, chillers, VRFs, heat pumps, etc.)
  • Review and verify mechanical system specifications for communication compatibility (e.g. ModBus, BacNet, hardwired protocols)
  • Flag any incompatibilities early and propose technical solutions (e.g. additional interface modules)
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical teams to ensure aligned delivery

Requirements

  • Proven experience in BMS system design/integration, ideally using Siemens Desigo
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical plant systems: HVAC units, AHUs, VRFs, chillers, heat pumps
  • Familiarity with communication protocols: ModBus, BacNet, wired interfaces
  • Strong systems engineering background
  • Experience working in rail or large-scale infrastructure environments is beneficial
  • Ability to work autonomously and communicate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams

What’s on Offer

  • Contract role with long-term potential (multiple active and upcoming projects)
  • Involvement in a career-defining infrastructure project
  • Outside IR35 potential
  • Flexible working environment
