An established and award-winning logistics operation based at London Gateway is looking to add an experienced Transport Planner to their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with container transport planning experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where fleet efficiency, customer service and operational excellence are key.

The Role:

As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for the daily planning and optimisation of the vehicle fleet, ensuring maximum utilisation while delivering outstanding service to customers. You'll work closely with drivers, subcontractors and depots across the UK to create effective transport solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing daily transport plans in line with customer requirements
  • Maximising fleet utilisation and supporting revenue targets
  • Negotiating delivery schedules and subcontractor rates
  • Managing subcontractor onboarding and compliance standards
  • Attending daily planning review meetings
  • Ensuring cost-effective transport solutions
  • Maintaining accurate system updates and operational records
  • Delivering high levels of customer service across multiple accounts

What we're looking for:

  • Proven transport planning experience
  • Strong geographical knowledge
  • Good understanding of Tachograph, Working Time & Drivers' Hours regulations
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Strong IT and systems knowledge
  • Experience using TOPS, Destin8 and VBS systems
  • Previous container transport planning experience is highly desirable

Nice to have:

  • Transport Manager CPC (or working towards it)

Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Weekend cover required on a rota basis.
