EMEA Accountant | Reading area (Hybrid) | Permanent
If you're part-qualified or newly qualified and want broader experience than a single-entity UK role can give you, this is worth a look.
Our client is an international engineering and manufacturing business with operations across Europe and beyond. Their EMEA finance team is growing, and they need an accountant who can run the core numbers across several international entities and get closer to the commercial side of the business as they go.
You'll report to the EMEA Financial Controller and work alongside finance teams in mainland Europe and the US. The work covers close, compliance, FP&A and treasury, so you'll see more of how a business runs than most people at this stage of their career.
What you'll be doing
- Day-to-day accounting across AP, AR, general ledger, inventory and fixed assets
- Month-end and year-end close, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparing financial statements under US GAAP
- Quarterly VAT returns for EMEA entities
- Supporting SOX controls and internal and external audits
- Management reporting, variance and gross margin analysis
- Updating the weekly EMEA cash forecast and presenting it to Treasury
- Coordinating payroll with an external provider
- Improving processes in Oracle, especially around inventory and month-end
- Occasional travel to EMEA subsidiaries
What you'll bring
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA, either part-qualified or newly qualified
- 3 to 5 years in an accounting or finance role
- Strong Excel and ERP skills (Oracle is a big plus)
- Confidence explaining numbers to people outside finance
- A hands-on attitude and a willingness to learn
Nice to have
- Background in an engineering or manufacturing business
- Study support if you're part-qualified, as the company will fund the rest of your qualification
- International exposure early in your career, with real responsibility across multiple entities
- A growing team where you'll be able to improve processes and see the results
- Hybrid working, with travel to European sites
