Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to lead the inspection, maintenance, and improvement of a major network assets. This is a leadership role focused on delivering operational excellence, safety culture transformation, and long-term asset performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of building & civils inspection, maintenance, and renewals
- Develop and implement annual business plans aligned with safety, compliance, and budget targets
- Drive cultural transformation in safety and engineering assurance
- Ensure compliance with standards, CDM regulations, and the Engineering Management Plan
- Lead and develop a skilled, competent, and flexible engineering team
- Collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers to innovate and improve performance
- Create and implement weather resilience and system integration strategies
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering + relevant professional qualification
- Strong technical experience in infrastructure inspections and maintenance
- Proven leadership and communication skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Experience with Enterprise Asset Management Systems
- Background in railway operations or safety-critical engineering roles
