We are seeking a Principal Design Engineer for a manufacturer of Fiber Optic Connectivity Solutions to lead the development of new products and enhancements to existing designs. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a highly motivated engineer with strong technical expertise and a passion for innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of new fibre optic products from concept to production
- Oversee and upgrade existing product and customer drawings
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning
- Manage engineering project timelines and deliverables
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, Product Management, and Supply Chain teams
- Support patent filings and contribute to company IP
- Travel with Sales teams to support design presentations as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science
- Experience in fibre optics or connector design
- Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred)
- Background in plastics and product lifecycle management a plus
