Are you a Meteorologist with a passion for applied meteorology and aviation? Do you want to be part of an innovative aerospace programme where weather analysis is critical to success? A leading aerospace organisation is looking for a Meteorologist to support the development and operations that operate beyond the scope of conventional aviation forecasts. This role is integral to flight planning, operations, and long-term strategic analysis, ensuring successful missions in complex atmospheric conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time meteorological support to Flight Operations, analysing data to identify flight opportunities and hazards.
- Support take-off and landing decisions during flight trials.
- Conduct climate data analysis to inform strategic planning.
- Develop and maintain meteorological software tools for global flight analysis.
- Stay up to date with the latest high-altitude atmospheric research.
- Manage and operate weather support equipment, including atmospheric LIDAR, ground weather stations, and radiosondes.
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Meteorology, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of atmospheric physics.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an applied meteorology role.
- Experience with long-term MET analysis and short-term forecasting (preferred).
- Aviation weather forecasting experience (advantageous).
- Proficiency in data analysis using ERA5, IGRA, and programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or R (preferred).
