We are currently seeking an experienced Contract Mechanical Design Engineer to support a key client in the design and development of electronic enclosures for high-performance industrial or consumer products. This is a contract role ideally suited to someone with a strong background in mechanical design using PTC Creo and a solid understanding of designing for electronics integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical design of electronic enclosures, including sheet metal and injection-moulded plastic components
  • Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and assembly documentation using Creo
  • Collaborate closely with electronics and systems engineers to ensure mechanical and electrical integration
  • Manage design iterations through prototyping, testing, and feedback cycles
  • Ensure all designs meet relevant environmental, thermal, and EMC compliance standards
  • Work within tight timescales to support product delivery milestones

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience designing electronic enclosures for industrial, consumer, automotive, or defence applications
  • Strong proficiency with PTC Creo
  • Good knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes – particularly sheet metal, die-cast, and plastic injection moulding
  • Able to work independently and liaise with cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles and working with suppliers/manufacturers
