Maritime Systems Integration Lead (USV)

Maritime Systems Integration Lead (USV)

Full-Time No working from home possible
GTS Group Ltd

A defence technology business is bringing an uncrewed surface vessel (USV) programme to life, and needs someone who can own the physical integration of the platform: the boat itself, the sensors bolted to it, and everything connecting the two.

This isn't a desk-based design role. You'll be evaluating platforms hands-on, sat in meetings with the boat manufacturer and the radar partner, and making the calls on where things actually go and how they talk to each other.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and select the base vessel platform, working directly with the boat manufacturer on hull, layout, and integration constrain
  • Liaise with the radar partner to define sensor placement and performance requirements on the platfo
  • Design full mounting positions for radar, comms, and other mission syste
  • Plan and specify cable runs across the vessel, covering power, networking, and comms integration end to e
  • Act as the technical thread between multiple suppliers, keeping the platform build coherent as different parties bolt their kit

Qualifications

  • Marine, naval architecture, or maritime systems engineering background - you understand vessels, not just the electronics sitting on top of t
  • Working knowledge of networking, comms, and power integration in a marine or defence environm
  • A Project Manager's instinct for owning a build across multiple external suppliers, even if your background is engineering rather than formal
  • PMComfortable coordinating with manufacturers and partners who don't report to you direc

Practicalities

Office is Hertfordshire, with strong hybrid flexibility for the right person. Expect multiple trips to the Middle East and APAC as the programme progresses through build and trials, so this suits someone who doesn't mind being on a plane a few times a year.

This is a build-from-scratch programme rather than a maintain-what-exists one. If you want to be the person who decided where the radar sat and why the cable run worked, this is that.
