We're Hiring: Civil Engineer (Rail Infrastructure)
I'm seeking a skilled and motivated Civil Engineer to support the delivery of rail infrastructure projects across our frameworks. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in engineering assurance, technical leadership, and safe project delivery within a growing organisation.
The Role
As a Civil Engineer, you will act as the appointed CRE or Mentored CRE (Civils), taking responsibility for the engineering assurance of civil engineering works and ensuring full compliance with Network Rail standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as CRE or Mentored CRE for civil engineering works, ensuring compliance with Network Rail standards
- Take responsibility for engineering assurance across all civil engineering project scopes
- Review and approve designs, method statements, and work packages
- Provide engineering leadership during planning and delivery phases, ensuring constructability and CDM compliance
- Coordinate with internal teams, designers, subcontractors, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues
- Ensure works are delivered in line with approved designs, specifications, and quality standards
- Support the Project Manager with engineering risk identification and mitigation
- Liaise with Network Rail DPEs and other stakeholders to maintain technical alignment and approvals
- Oversee site inspections and audits to verify compliance with engineering and safety standards
- Maintain accurate records of engineering decisions and assurance documentation
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in civil engineering within rail infrastructure projects (design, site, or assurance), ideally with geotechnical and/or drainage experience
- Strong understanding of Network Rail standards, including:
- NR/L2/RSE/02009 β Engineering Management for Projects
- NR/L2/CIV/003 β Engineering & Architectural Assurance
Desirable:
- Master's degree in a Civil Engineering discipline
- Working towards IEng or CEng with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
