About the Role

To ensure the effective maintenance, repair, and continual improvement of machines and equipment in line with the Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) schedule, supporting the safe and efficient operation of the facility. This role supports quality, safety, and productivity objectives while actively contributing to Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment.
  • Inspect and replace lubricants, coolants, worn parts, and wiring in accordance with OEM manuals and specifications.
  • Diagnose faults and repair machines and equipment as required.
  • Coordinate with and manage external suppliers for more complex repair tasks.
  • Safely transport materials, components, and finished parts using forklifts and lifting equipment as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all activities.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety policies including Risk Assessments, COSHH, Safe Systems of Work (SSW), and use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Contribute to Lean initiatives such as 5S and Continuous Improvement programs.
  • Monitor the condition and calibration of tools and equipment.
  • Replace or recalibrate tools as required to ensure safety and accuracy.
  • Proactively identify and report any unsafe practices or faulty equipment.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others at all times.

About You

  • Apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (preferred)
  • 17th Edition wiring regulations
  • Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and equipment repair
  • Forklift license (desirable)
  • Understanding of Health & Safety standards and regulations
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools (5S, Kaizen, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
