Weβre supporting a world-leading engineering organisation specialising in the design and manufacture of advanced instruments used across Energy, Defence, Ocean Science, and offshore renewable markets. They are now looking to appoint a Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer to play a key role in the development of next-generation subsea products. This is a hands-on technical role suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, leading design decisions, and mentoring others within a collaborative engineering environment.
The Role
- Design and develop electronics hardware and embedded firmware for advanced subsea instruments.
- Act as technical authority on electronics design for new product developments.
- Design low-power, low-noise analogue and digital electronics (FPGA, MPU).
- Lead and participate in hardware design reviews, evaluating and selecting optimal technical solutions.
- Design for EMC compliance and support EMC testing against relevant standards (e.g. EN60945).
- Carry out hands-on electronics and embedded software fault-finding and debugging.
- Develop embedded software using C and C++ on microprocessor platforms.
- Produce high-quality technical and design documentation to support wider engineering teams.
- Work to established engineering processes and contribute to their continuous improvement.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers across engineering and production support teams.
Experience Required
- Strong background in analogue and digital electronics design, including low-power systems.
- Experience with FPGA, MPU, and embedded hardware design.
- Solid understanding of EMC design principles and compliance testing.
- Competent using Altium for schematic capture and PCB design.
- Embedded C experience (C++ knowledge beneficial).
- Proven hands-on fault-finding, debugging, and production support experience.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.
- Proactive, detail-focused, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Qualifications
- 2:1 or above in a relevant Engineering degree (Electronic, Electrical, or similar).
Candidate Requirements
- Candidates must be able to obtain UK Security Clearance.
- Must be able to get security cleared.
