We are supporting a leading industrial electronics and subsea engineering company that designs and delivers bespoke systems and instruments across Energy, Ocean Science, Defence, and offshore renewable markets. They are now looking to appoint a Project Manager to lead and coordinate bespoke development projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to precise specifications. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced project manager with a strong engineering background who thrives in complex, matrix-based environments.
The Role
- Lead custom delivery projects across the full lifecycle, from concept to handover.
- Develop and implement Project Management Plans including scope, milestones, budgets, risks, and stakeholder management.
- Manage work breakdown structures, track progress, and ensure timely delivery.
- Monitor project budgets, calculate Cost to Complete (CTC), and report deviations.
- Collaborate with Technical Leads to verify requirements and system performance.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, implementing contingency plans as required.
- Lead internal and external gateway reviews, ensuring clear outcomes and effective decision-making.
- Maintain strong communication and relationships with customers, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer standards, and ISO9001.
- Conduct project closeouts and share lessons learned to improve processes and tools.
Experience Required
- Proven project management experience in an engineering or technical environment.
- Experience managing bespoke, low-volume engineering solutions.
- Strong ability to lead teams in a matrix organisation, including delegation and negotiation skills.
- Experience managing projects involving multiple integrated components.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels of an organisation.
- Excellent planning, organisation, and multitasking skills.
- Knowledge of good engineering practice and standards.
- Adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering (BSc/BEng) or equivalent.
