The Rolling Stock Engineer is responsible for supporting fleet availability, technical and safety assurance, reliability improvement, and new fleet introduction across the rolling stock fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise across rolling stock systems including ATO, electrical, mechanical, electronic, control, auxiliary, braking and pneumatic systems.
  • Deliver engineering changes through the assurance (CAP) process, including acting as a Designated Competent Person where required.
  • Lead reliability improvement and predictive/preventative maintenance activities.
  • Manage technical compliance, safety assurance, condition assessments, audits, and reporting activities.
  • Support the Annual Asset Maintenance Plan (AAMP) and ISO55001 asset management requirements.
  • Manage suppliers, contractors, and rolling stock engineering projects, including visits to supplier sites in the UK and Europe.
  • Maintain rolling stock documentation, engineering standards, and change management processes.
  • Deliver integrated engineering activities and innovative workstreams that improve business efficiency.
  • Provide technical support across maintenance, assurance, compliance, and documentation activities.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of rolling stock systems and railway engineering principles.
  • Experience in fleet engineering, maintenance, reliability, or safety assurance.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, compliance, and change management.
  • Experience managing suppliers, projects, and technical documentation.
