GTS Group is working with a leading organisation delivering complex projects within a prestigious government estate in London. We are seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager to join a growing project delivery team and support the successful delivery of high-profile construction and infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional looking to develop within a structured project management environment, gaining hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle while working alongside experienced senior project managers. The role offers strong career progression and the opportunity to gradually take ownership of project workstreams as your experience develops.

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the delivery of projects from planning through to completion. Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting senior project managers in the day-to-day management of projects
  • Leading defined elements of project delivery under supervision
  • Assisting with contract administration and project documentation
  • Preparing reports, project programmes, and supporting documentation
  • Coordinating communication between clients, contractors, and consultant teams
  • Supporting Health & Safety compliance and CDM Regulations on site
  • Assisting with pricing, instructions, and client communication
  • Supporting applications for payment and preparation of final accounts
  • Managing document control and maintaining project processes and templates
  • Attending financial and progress meetings with clients, engineers, and subcontractors
  • Supporting engineers and project teams to optimise contract resources
  • Using internal systems and software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
  • Identifying opportunities to improve project processes and service delivery

Responsibilities will evolve as your experience grows, providing a clear pathway towards a full Project Manager role.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • 1–3 years’ experience in a construction, consultancy, or contractor environment
  • Experience supporting the delivery of projects
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment
  • Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)

Desirable:

  • A degree in construction, project management, or a built environment discipline
  • Familiarity with JCT and/or NEC contracts
  • Experience working with main contractors
  • Understanding of RIBA stages and procurement processes
