ERTMS Programme Assurance Lead

Location : Leeds / Hybrid | Contract : Full-time

Recruiting on behalf of a major UK rail freight organisation

GTS Transportation is seeking an experienced Programme Assurance Lead to support a nationally significant ERTMS rollout across the UK freight network. This role will oversee all technical, safety, and regulatory assurance to ensure the programme meets required approvals and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the programme’s assurance strategy across safety, technical, and regulatory areas.
• Ensure compliance with recognised frameworks (ESAC, 4-Stage assurance, CSM-REA, interoperability standards, NTRs / RIS).
• Lead regulatory engagement, securing key approvals such as APIS and PIU.
• Coordinate with assessment bodies and oversee production of Safety Cases, hazard records, and system assurance evidence.
• Identify and manage assurance risks and support hazard identification workshops.
• Provide leadership to internal teams, suppliers, and industry partners.
