As a Senior Planner, you will lead planning and project controls activities across major infrastructure projects or a portfolio of smaller projects. Working closely with Project and Programme Managers, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules to support successful project delivery.

You will provide expert planning guidance, drive best practice, support business planning activities, and mentor junior planners within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead planning and project controls activities for assigned projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules, ensuring they are accurately resource and cost loaded.
  • Work closely with project, commercial, finance, site, and possession teams to ensure programme alignment.
  • Support the transition of tender programmes into delivery schedules.
  • Conduct critical path analysis and identify risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Produce project performance reports, including KPI, Earned Value, schedule, and delay analysis.
  • Undertake scenario modelling and assess the impact of project changes on cost, resources, risks, and programme.
  • Build effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Promote planning best practice and support the development of junior planners.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
  • Experience planning major infrastructure projects, ideally within the rail sector.
  • Advanced Primavera P6 skills and knowledge of Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, resource planning, and reporting.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and client teams.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
  • Technical, engineering, or business-related background.
  • Knowledge of railway signalling and rail infrastructure projects.
  • Experience leading planning teams on complex projects.
  • Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).
