An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Inspector to join a leading Formula One engineering environment, supporting the inspection and validation of high-performance components used in cutting-edge aerodynamic development. This role is ideal for a skilled CMM Inspector, Metrology Engineer, or Inspection Technician with experience in precision engineering, motorsport, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing looking to take the next step into elite-level engineering.
Working within a fast-paced F1 environment, you’ll play a key role in ensuring metallic and additive manufactured components meet the highest quality and dimensional standards before entering wind tunnel and development programmes.
The Role
As a Quality Inspector, you’ll work closely with Design, Aerodynamics, Manufacturing, and Model Shop teams to support the accurate inspection and assembly of highly complex components and scale models. You’ll be responsible for delivering precise metrology and quality control processes using advanced CMM programming, 3D scanning, and inspection technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect complex components and assemblies using CMM, metrology equipment, and 3D scanning systems
- Perform dimensional inspection against engineering drawings and CAD data
- Identify and report non-conformances and quality issues
- Support full model build validation and inspection reporting
- Carry out scanning of components, sub-assemblies, and complete models
- Support inspection activities within Additive Manufacturing (AM) environments
Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Design, Aero, and Manufacturing teams
- Support continuous improvement of inspection and QC processes
- Assist colleagues with metrology tools and inspection procedures
- Maintain and calibrate measurement equipment
- Manage workload effectively within tight motorsport development deadlines
Skills & Experience Required
- Experience within Quality Inspection / Metrology / Precision Engineering
- Strong experience with CMM programming – PC-DMIS preferred
- Experience using PolyWorks, Leica, Creaform, or similar scanning systems
- Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD assemblies
- Experience with manual inspection equipment and measurement arms
- Background within motorsport, automotive, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
Desirable Experience
- Formula One / Motorsport / Wind Tunnel environment experience
- Additive Manufacturing (AM) inspection knowledge
- Experience within low-volume, high-precision engineering environments
