Overview
GTS Transportation is working with a well-established client in the transport and logistics sector to appoint an Interim Financial Controller on a contract through to February 2026. The business is currently going through a planned exit strategy, and this role is key in ensuring robust financial operations, reporting integrity, and readiness for due diligence. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining a high-performing finance function while supporting the broader strategic goals of the business as it moves toward a sale or investment event.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- Oversee all statutory accounting, compliance, and audit preparation
- Lead and develop a small finance team, instilling rigour and best practice
- Strengthen financial controls and processes to support exit-readiness
- Partner with the CFO to provide financial insight and operational support during the exit process
- Contribute to financial modelling, data room preparation, and external advisor liaison
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role
- Previous involvement in exit processes, business sales, or private equity transactions is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, controls, and governance
- Hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable in dynamic, change-driven environments
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Available quickly and able to work on a hybrid basis in Birmingham
