We're looking for a hands‑on, people‑focused Site Operations Manager to take charge of planned improvement and repair work across the GTR network. You'll lead a small team of in‑house Site Service Engineers, making sure our stations stay safe, look great, and work well for the millions of passengers who use them every day. If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves, working with and driving your team, developing others, and keeping things running like clockwork, this could be the role for you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead a small team of Site Service Engineers to deliver day‑to‑day maintenance and site improvement projects.
- Get hands‑on with the work yourself – it offers a great balance between practical tasks and developing others giving you a nice variety.
- Keep everyone safe by checking that the right risk assessments and safety plans are in place before, during, and after any work.
- Make sure the quality's right by inspecting completed jobs and dealing with any snagging issues.
- Support and train your team, helping them grow their skills and stay safe on the job.
- Work with contractors and managers to plan site access and minimise disruption to the public.
- Look after the tools, vehicles, and kit your team uses, making sure everything's in good condition.
What You'll Need
- Solid hands‑on experience in construction and/or building maintenance.
- Focus on site safety and working processes.
- Confidence working with a unionised team – you know how to get the best out of people.
- Good understanding of risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- Comfortable working with contractors and reviewing their safety plans.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office.
