About The Role
We have an exciting contract opportunity to join GTR\’s ERTMS team, supporting the delivery of one of the most significant industry-wide programmes currently underway in UK rail. As the UK\’s largest train operator, GTR is at the heart of transforming how the railway operates, and this role plays a vital part in that journey.
As an ERTMS Administrator, you\’ll provide high-quality administrative support to a diverse, multi-disciplinary team, working closely with colleagues across Infrastructure, Engineering and Operations, as well as external industry partners. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants to contribute to a nationally important programme.
What you\’ll be doing
- Providing comprehensive administrative support to the ERTMS team, ensuring day-to-day activities run smoothly
- Managing purchase orders, diary coordination, annual leave requests and general office administration
- Organising and coordinating internal and external meetings, including preparation of documentation and follow-up actions
- Supporting key projects and assisting with information gathering and reporting
- Acting as a key point of contact, liaising professionally with internal stakeholders and external partners
- Working collaboratively across GTR and the wider rail industry, positively representing the GTR brand
- Supporting a positive, respectful and inclusive working environment
- Undertaking additional duties as required by the Line Manager
What we\’re looking for
We\’re looking for someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders.
Essential
- Strong communication skills with a high level of professionalism
- Educated to GCSE/A-Level standard
- Confident using IT systems and producing reports and documentation
- Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- An analytical, problem-solving mindset
Desirable
- Experience working within the railway industry
- Understanding of railway organisational structures
- Exposure to ERTMS operations, signalling systems or onboard systems
- Experience of working in a Trade Union environment
- Entry-level project management experience
