At Southern, we are looking to the opportunities of combining our training and competency development teams to drive an evolution in performance. Our reorganisation was approved and completed in April 2023. Our operational team depends upon the maintenance of a range of administrative systems and team organisation, and the Development Team Organiser is a crucial role supporting a diverse team of managers accountable for train driver competency performance.

This role will create, own and manage a complete matrix of training needs and course allocation for all members of the Head of Training & Competency Teams (and, when required, the Head of Operations Teams). This matrix will identify all of the training qualifications held by team members, identify gaps, and ensure all members of the team are booked to undertake needed training. This will include refresher training, operational competencies, HR training and competencies, external training courses and apprenticeships. This role will circulate training course information to those needing training and provide reports to the Regional Competency Managers, Operational Response Manager and Operations Training Manager on team member compliance with minimum training requirements (in due course this will include the Head of Operations team). It is planned that this matrix will assist all members of the team to thrive with equal levels of skills and training, aiding the business\' commitment to development opportunities and ensuring the maximum productivity of the managerial team is achieved.

This role will also provide a range of reliable administrative support, including creation of team reporting, supporting the provision of uniform and facilities management across identified buildings on the estate, and ensuring the competency management system is maintained accurately where required.

To additionally facilitate support for traincrew at one of our largest depots, there will be a requirement to provide in person support at Selhurst depot, and this role is not suitable for remote working.
