Job Description
The Urban Driver Apprenticeship is a 15‑month programme in which apprentices learn all aspects of professional driving and gain the Category C1 (7.5_div) licence, with the goal of moving to a full‑time 7.5t Driver position within DX upon completion. Apprentices will perform non‑driving duties such as office work, drivers’ mate tasks, and warehousing during training, in addition to a broad range of training alongside their daily role. Apprentices will also obtain the required CPC licences for LGV driving.
Responsibilities
- Represent DX in a professional manner at all times
- Carry out all tasks required as part of the apprenticeship training
- Drive vehicles safely and legally, ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements
- Complete all daily checks and promptly report defects, completing correct paperwork
- Scan all products using DX scanning equipment
- Load deliveries safely before leaving the depot
- Observe DX procedures and policies at all times
- Manage routing to achieve premium and timed deliveries
- Maintain correct equipment and PPE in good order and use them at all times
- Report all delivery and on‑road issues to the traffic office immediately
- Ensure customers receive deliveries in excellent condition every time
- Deal with any customer issues politely and effectively
- Ensure collections are made in line with given instructions and times
Qualifications / Entry Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Minimum of 12 months of UK driving experience
- Valid Category B licence
