Program Overview
The Modern Apprenticeship Programmes allow apprentices to work full time and earn while they learn, putting theory into practice within a training environment. Apprentices attend the training centre for block release training weeks and receive regular assessment and reviews at their own workplace. This ensures they acquire the necessary skills to successfully complete the apprenticeship.
Typical Day
You will be based within the garage workshop and will be involved in learning all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance, including vehicle servicing, MOT preparation, removal, replacement and overhaul of major components, and electrical fault diagnostics.
Units Covered
- Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the automotive environment
- Inspection of light vehicles
- Diagnosing and rectifying chassis units and components
- Diagnosing and rectifying vehicle engines and component faults
- Ensuring your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
- Contributing to workplace good housekeeping
What You’ll Learn
Regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace with dedicated mentors from GTG and the workplace, ensuring the necessary skills for completion. You will train through GTG Wolverhampton, attending block release training weeks, to Level 2 Autocare Technician or Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician.
Qualifications
GCSE Level or above in Maths, English and a Science or Technical subject or equivalent.
