We are looking for Specialist Skills Practitioner to join our team at GTG Wolverhampton to deliver a first-class teaching experience for our learners.

About the role
As a Specialist Skills Practitioner, you will develop, guide, inspire and support learners through a combination of practical, remote, and classroom-based learning sessions.
You will provide learners with a high-quality learning experience and support them to become competent and confident employees who understand the next steps required to achieve their career goals.
- Responsible for Functional Skills and Specialist Skills curriculum development and delivery.
- Facilitate initial and diagnostic assessments, advice and guidance, arranging additional support as needed.
- Provide effective SEN support, working with learners to determine their needs and improving their ability to learn new skills.
- Monitor the progress and achievement of Functional Skills, producing reports for senior leaders and employers.
- Work closely with vocational trainers to collaboratively deliver Functional Skills across all apprenticeship programmes.
- Collaborate with employees within apprenticeships, promoting 'stretch and challenge' teaching approach for all learners.
- Develop resources for Functional Skills in English and Maths to support colleagues.
- Prepare learners for Functional Skills English and Maths exams, coordinating with stakeholders for all examination requirements.
- Support the recruitment, retention and achievement of learners.
- Provide information, advice and guidance to learners and prospective learners to support their aspirations and career goals.
- Strengthen links with key stakeholders, such as employers and sector representatives.
- Prepare and lead Functional Skills and SEN training sessions with practitioners and wider support staff.
- Assess the specific educational needs of learners with disabilities and provide recommendations for their support.
- Provide support to learners with learning difficulties in the classroom and workplace and facilitate referrals for external support from therapists, medical specialist or tutors.
- Ensure all training environments are equipped with adequate resources to support special educational needs.
- Where relevant, engage in marketing activities with employers and the wider community in line with GTG strategies.
Essential skills
- Minimum three years' occupational experience undertaking support of SEN for learners and colleagues
- Level 3 English and maths qualifications
- Level 4 teaching qualification
- Understanding of safeguarding in an educational setting (including Prevent)
- Good understanding of providing education to children and adults
- Good standard of IT and administrative skills
- Display initiative, be positive and enthusiastic
- Be flexible and responsive to employer needs
- Demonstrate a commitment to equality and diversity, customer service and quality assurance
- Excellent communications skills
- A team player
- Demonstrate a high level of professional behaviour
- Excellent presentation skills
