They are now looking for an enthusiastic Light Vehicle maintenance and Repair Technician apprentice to join their experienced workshop team.

About the apprenticeship

GTG Training are recruiting for a Light Vehicle maintenance and Repair Technician apprentice on behalf of Ponthir Group. This is a fantastic opportunity for those who are ready to advance their career within the automotive industry. The Apprenticeship Programmes allow apprentices to work full time and earn while they learn putting theory into practice within a training environment. You will train through GTG Wolverhampton, by attending block release training weeks, to achieve a Level 2 Light Vehicle maintenance and Repair Technician qualification. Regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace which aims to ensure you have the required skills to successfully complete your apprenticeship.

What Might a Typical Day in this Job look like?

You will be based within the garage workshop and will be involved in learning all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance, including vehicle servicing, MOT preparation, removal, replacement and overhaul of major components and electrical fault diagnostics.

Examples of the units covered are:

  • Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the automotive environment
  • Inspection of light vehicles
  • Diagnosing and rectifying chassis units and components
  • Diagnosing and rectifying vehicle engines and component faults
  • Ensuring your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
  • Contributing to workplace good housekeeping

What will I learn?

Regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace with dedicated mentors from GTG and the apprentice’s workplace, which aims to ensure you have the required skills to successfully complete your apprenticeship.

What qualifications or qualities are required?

GCSE 4/Level 2 or above in Maths, English

What personal qualities are required?

We are looking for candidates who want to kickstart their career in the automotive industry and who are keen to learn. You must be dedicated and have a proactive approach to your work and learning. You are able to prioritise and work to timelines. A willingness to work in a practical environment using your own initiative. A full UK Driving licence is not essential but preferred.
