Are you ready to kickstart your career in the commercial vehicle industry? Renault Trucks is looking for passionate individuals to join our Heavy Vehicle Apprentice Technician programme. The 3-year apprentice programme will initially cover maintenance, repair and inspections of the Renault Trucks range, and will be completed with the development of your skills in complex vehicle diagnostics and electric vehicle systems.
As an apprentice, you'll gain hands‑on experience in a dealer workshop and receive on‑the‑job training under the guidance of a skilled mentor. Training:
Your training will take place at the state‑of‑the‑art Renault Trucks UK Training Academy in Whetstone, Leicester. This modern facility features a spacious workshop with industry‑standard equipment. You'll learn from experienced commercial vehicle specialists who will provide top‑quality training to ensure you gain the essential knowledge and skills.
In addition to block release training at the Academy, you'll undergo regular assessments and reviews in your workplace to ensure you have the skills needed to successfully complete your apprenticeship.
A Typical Day:
You’ll be based in the workshop, learning all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance. This includes vehicle servicing, MOT preparation, major component overhauls, and electrical fault diagnostics. You'll cover units such as:
- Materials, fabrication, tools, and measuring devices used in the commercial vehicle environment
- Inspection of heavy vehicles
- Diagnosing and rectifying chassis units, including pneumatic braking systems
- Diagnosing and rectifying engine, transmission, and electrical system faults
- Commissioning and decommissioning high voltage systems on battery electric vehicles
- Ensuring health and safety standards
- Contributing to workplace housekeeping
Requirements and Prospects:
To complete the apprenticeship, you must pass Level 1 English and Maths (or have an exemption certificate) and work towards this level before the end‑point assessment.
