Responsibilities
- In this role, you will be trained to repair vehicle damage to an exacting standard.
- You will be working within a wider vehicle repair team and have a dedicated mentor assigned to you.
- You will have exposure to a range of vehicles and repair methods.
- You will be based in the accident repair centre and will be involved in learning all aspects of repairing accident damaged vehicles, including chassis alignment techniques, panel repair and replacement, welding and preparing vehicles for painting.
This programme covers the following areas:
- Assessing a vehicle to establish the extent of damage
- Deciding whether to repair or replace bodywork based on the initial assessment
- Removing damaged panels
- Stripping and refitting trim and panel interior
- Refitting new/repaired panels
Training and Qualifications
You will train through GTG to SCQF Level 6 in Vehicle Body Repair. Regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace and at GTG Training which aims to ensure you have the required skills to successfully complete your apprenticeship.
