GTG Training are recruiting for an Apprentice Panel Technician on behalf of an independent garage.This is a fantastic opportunity for those who are ready to advance their career within the automotive industry.
The Modern Apprenticeship Programmes allow apprentices to work full time andearn while they learn putting theory into practice within a training environment.
As well as attending the training centre for week block release of training, regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice\’s own workplace which aims to ensure they have the required skills to successfully complete their apprenticeship.
What Might a Typical Day in this Job look like?
The Vehicle Body Repair and Alignment apprenticeship provides prospective body repair and alignment technicians with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out the role of a modern automotive technician.
Examples of the units covered are:
- Contributing to housekeeping in motor vehicle environments
- Reducing risks to health and safety
- Maintaining working relationships
- Use of hand tools and equipment in motor vehicle engineering
- Removing and replacing motor vehicle body panels
- Repairing major motor vehicle exterior body panels
- Identifying and rectifying motor vehicle body misalignment
- Motor vehicle body MIG/MAG welding operations
- Motor vehicle body resistance spot welding operations
- Motor vehicle body MIG brazing operations
What will I learn?
Regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice\’s own workplace which aims to ensure they have the required skills to successfully complete their apprenticeship.
You will train through GTG to SCQF Level 6 in Vehicle Body Repair.
What qualifications or qualities are required?
You must have or expect to gain National 4 or above in English, Maths, and either a Science or Technical Subject. If you are working towards these qualifications, please state this in your application.
What personal qualities are required?

- You must be dedicated and have a proactive approach to your work and learning.
