Turners (Soham) Ltd is recruiting for our HGV Driver Apprenticeship programme in partnership with GTG Training, during your apprenticeship you will go through comprehensive training to gain your Category CE Licence.
This learning experience gives you the opportunity to be employed whist gaining a qualification with us over a minimum 12-month period plus an end point assessment to complete your apprenticeship.
We are one of the largest privately owned haulage companies delivering both nationwide and internationally across Europe. As a company we operate 24/7 and therefore we can offer a wide range of shift patterns and give you the ability to earn a salary in the range of £42,000 to £55,000 per annum once qualified, depending on your shift pattern.
What we expect from each applicant:
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Full Category B Car Licence, less than 6 points and no disqualifications within last 10 years
- Good level of Maths & English, preferably GCSE level A-D / 7 – 4
- Positive attitude and flexible
- Sense of responsibility and commitment
Whilst driving for success in obtaining your CE licence, you will also gain valuable experiences within the business and learn what Logistics is all about. You will gain hands‑on experience of driving HGV vehicles and shadow current qualified drivers. You will also develop skills and knowledge from shunting vehicles in the yard, various yard and compliance checks, working in the Gatehouse, Traffic Office and Coldstores where you could also obtain your Forklift and Barrow licence.
Once you have gained your qualification, you will be expected to manage your working time in a fast‑paced industry which requires drivers to spend long hours on the road travelling around the country. We expect all drivers to uphold a professional approach when dealing with our customers and colleagues.
