About the Apprenticeship

This 3‑year programme is working towards a Bus and Coach Technician Level 3 qualification with a specialism in Mech/Elec (mechanical / electrical). The course runs with 5‑day training blocks every 6 weeks at our partner’s state‑of‑the‑art workshop in Wolverhampton. It will equip you with the skills and competence required to become a skilled Bus Engineer.

About You

This programme is designed for people at every stage in life. Whether you are beginning your career after school or looking for a new path, we look for those with an inquisitive mindset, a love for problem‑solving, and a willingness to get hands‑on experience. You must hold GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at Grade C / Level 3 as a minimum.

Key Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Bus Technician you will be trained to inspect, diagnose, repair and test equipment and systems on buses from different manufacturers. Your work will range from performing simple tasks, such as replacing parts, to solving complex faults using diagnostic equipment. You will also receive training in road‑worthiness inspections, workshop safety practices and operational procedures.

Placement and Support

You will be based at our Brixton depot, working alongside an experienced team who will support and mentor you throughout the apprenticeship.

Earnings

  • Under 18s: £8.00
  • 18 to 20: £10.85
  • 21 and above: £12.71

In your first year, your earnings will increase year‑on‑year in line with the National Minimum Wage and progress through the course.
