Salaried GP and Medical Lead £96,926 to £117,275 per annum, depending on experience, pro rata. gtd healthcare is a values driven, not-for-profit provider of innovative healthcare across North-West England, with a turnover of £49 million. We are one of the largest NHS Commissioned providers of Primary and Urgent Care Services in the region.
We are growing our Medical Leadership Team to ensure we continue to deliver great quality patient care. We are looking for a Salaried GP to undertake the Medical Leadership role at The Smithy Practice. The Medical Lead is a permanent post, and in addition to the Salaried GP position, 4 hours per week of protected non-patient activity time is given to support leadership and management within the practice.
We are a busy but friendly Practice, dedicated to serving our registered patients across the Hyde community for over 25 years and have excellent links with Hyde PCN. We are located nearby to the M67 with free onsite parking. You will be joining a small, close-knit team of dedicated staff who work collaboratively to provide high-quality, patient-centred care to our growing list of patients.
As a high QOF-achieving practice with excellent infection prevention and control standards, we take pride in delivering consistent, evidence-based care, meeting high quality benchmarks.
Main duties of the jobYou will provide routine and urgent clinical care for both acute and long-term conditions working to local and national guidelines. The daily clinical workload is split equally amongst all clinicians with additional workload kept to a minimum by our excellent care navigation team. The acute home visit demand on the practice is generally low; however, you may be required to carry out visits occasionally. Minimal private work is required due to outsourcing most non-NHS requests.
You will be required to actively implement and support the use of digital technologies with patient triage systems and other communication technologies. You will attend and play an active role in regular practice & clinical meetings along with safeguarding and GSF MDT meetings. Opportunities to be included in PCN network meetings/projects.
You will be expected to work with the team to continually strive to improve standards of care and, in particular, achieve QoF targets and KLOE objectives as outlined by CQC. You will be expected to participate in ongoing personal and professional development keeping up to date with appraisal and GMC requirements for licensing. You must be a strong approachable leader who has passion in driving forward practice improvements, providing clear clinical leadership and supporting peers & GP trainees.

Provision of care & service delivery:
- Provide high quality and current evidence-based medical care to the patients of the Medical Practice and, where necessary and relevant, patients from other gtd healthcare managed services.
- Provide all GP services required as part of the GMS Contract held between gtd healthcare and commissioners.
- Undertake all necessary and relevant paperwork associated with the provision of medical services.
- Operate as part of a wider networked clinical team with partner practices for peer development, peer support and provision of relevant services.
- Undertake surgeries during extended hours in accordance with the access needs of the practice population and the contractual obligation of the practice.
- Provide support to other clinical professionals within the practice, e.g. Advanced Nurse Practitioner, practice nurses.
Clinical and service development:
- Support the achievement of QOF targets, taking a lead on a specific clinical area where appropriate.
- Actively participate in the development of services in the practices that meet the needs of the practices patient population and maximise the opportunities of new enhanced services.
- Work as an integral member of the practice team, contributing to the efficient and effective running of the practice.
- Support, where necessary, the implementation of change within the practice.
- Undertake clinical audits as required.
- Participate in individual and practice reviews as a part of incident or complaints management process.
Development and training:
- Participate in an ongoing personal and professional development programme including annual appraisal and supervision.
- Ensure that mandatory training is completed within agreed timescales.
- Where appropriate, undertake the North West Deanery basic trainers course and work with the practice and management teams to either enable practice training status to be achieved or maintain training status.
- Support the development of gtd healthcare becoming a beacon training organisation.
Corporate responsibilities:
- As an employee of gtd healthcare comply with all corporate and clinical policies and protocols.
- Ensure that mandatory training is complete and updated within the appropriate timescales.
- Where appropriate, engage in the management and resolution of complaints and incidents and significant events.
Any other duties, as agreed with the line manager to meet the needs of the organisation. This may include travel to other sites within the organisation.
Person SpecificationExperience:
- In practice as a General Practitioner/ locum practitioner.
- Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary and skill mixed team environment.
- Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF).
- Experience of supporting service change.
- Experience of team leadership.
Qualifications:
- A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 1 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003.
- Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983.
- Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
- Currently on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register.
- Accredited as a member of the Royal College Of General Practitioners (MRCGP) or have 5 years experience as a full-time GP with a demonstrable commitment to quality practice.
- GP Trainer.
