GTC, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, are looking for a Control Engineer Team Leader who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.

Purpose of this role

Manage the safe, effective operation of the distribution network and to provide a rapid response to faults, ensuring customer disruption is kept to a minimum through leadership of Control Engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and support to Control Engineers and assisting 1st Engineer with development plans.
• Responsible for the first line management of Control team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring work is carried out to the required standard within timescales.
• Confirm all documentation required for operational work is completed, recorded and submitted correctly and on time.
• Manage all electrical connections work requiring Operational Control of GTC’s networks.
• Undertake Technical and Safety Audits.
• Health & safety incident investigation and reporting where required.
• Act as GTC representative in industry forums.
• Ensure that the preparation for month end reporting is carried out in a timely manner.
• Liaison with representatives of other DNO’s undertaking connection and fault works.
• Act as manager in charge during an Electric interruption.
• Undertake Standby Duties.

Qualifications

• City and Guilds Level 3 qualification in associated engineering subject.
• Current CSCS card.
• Member of Engineering Institution to Eng Tech Level.
• Any other duties as required by the Control Manager.

Experience/Knowledge

• Experience of electrical distribution network up to 33kV.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
• Experience in Electricity Control Network environment and operations.

Abilities/Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including excellent telephone manner.
• Ability to work both collaboratively and as part of a team.
• Experience with Microsoft programmes including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Desirable

• HNC in associated subject.
• IOSH managing safely certificate.
• A recognised management qualification.
• Experience in communicating well with individuals at all levels and engaging with customers.
• Experience in leading a team.
• Ability to identify process improvements.
• Ability to manage own time.
• Ability to work self-efficiently.

Conditions of Employment

• You are required to have your criminal records checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This is due to handling and processing sensitive customer data.
• You will be required to participate in a standby rota.
• You will hold a driving licence.
