Purpose of this role:
To receive training in the design and management of utility networks, whilst acquiring a formal qualification relevant to the work that GTC undertakes. To work within various teams across the Design and Records department, gaining knowledge from experienced colleagues with the aim to be appointed to a position within the Network Design team upon completion of the apprenticeship.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Network Records β CAD Technician: To provide support to the engineering operational activities by keeping our records up to date with the latest design and as laid information. To process and interpret drawings received from Contractors, Developers and Engineers to ensure up to date and accurate drawing records. Creating a new utility network layout using a customerβs drawing background including the ability to use the correct scale.
- Multi-Utility Design β Planning Engineer: Provide network designs for multi-utility domestic, mixed-use, and industrial and commercial developments across the UK. Undertake demand calculations, network drawings and variations and to ensure network designs are fit for purpose, legislatively compliant and in accordance with Company and industry standards. Design innovative engineering solutions that satisfy both our customer needs and the needs of internal stakeholders - provide lowest cost for greatest benefit.
- Contestable Electricity Design β Planning Engineer: Liaise with upstream network operators to locate, design, and approve Contestable design works on new housing, mixed-use and industrial & commercial projects. Provide technical advice and support to the business in relation to low and high voltage electrical design. Attend meetings with Clients, Network Operators, and other companies as required.
Qualifications:
- Level 3 qualification in Engineering or A Levels in Maths and/or Science.
- Five GCSEs at Grade C/4 (or above) including English, Maths and Science.
- Any other duties as required by the manager.
Experience/Knowledge / Abilities / Skills:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office programmes or equivalent.
Desirable:
- Experience working on development sites.
- Customer service experience.
- Awareness of AutoCAD software.
