At BUUK Infrastructure, we are looking for an Electrical Networks Operations Engineer to help us reach our mission to "earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service".

Purpose of this role

Working as a member of the regional team to complete commissioning and testing as required by the adopting network operators, in line with Company Procedures and legislative requirements. Accountable for all network operational interfaces with the DNOs in relation to Self-Connect Operational Activities, ensuring achievement of company Self Connect objectives.

Your Key Responsibilities Are

  • Ensuring self‑connection to the DNO network is undertaken safely and in accordance with DNO and POC/GTC requirements, and that all relevant information is recorded accurately and submitted on time.
  • Ensure subcontract services and direct labour deliver projects safely, working with the management team, establishing supply strategies to maximise value across all projects.
  • Champion and support change initiatives, gaining acceptance from key stakeholders, challenging inappropriate behaviour and coaching team members as required.
  • Review and mitigate the impact of any identified health and safety risk to ensure that all Self Connect activities support a safety‑first and zero‑harm culture.
  • Ensure compliance to all HSEQ requirements and actively support the requirements of the HSE Plan.
  • Work proactively with DNOs and senior management, as required, to develop Self Connect processes and procedures.
  • Undertake incident investigations, making recommendations and implementing learning outcomes.
  • Undertake required team briefings / toolbox talks.
  • Complete all audit and site inspection requirements and take appropriate follow‑up actions.
  • Complete all other reasonably requested duties.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate Electrical Qualifications.
  • Appropriate Health & Safety Qualification.

Experience / Knowledge

  • Distribution engineer background, operating on 11kV networks as an SAP or SAP in training holding AP status to enable switching under supervision in line with the CIC COP “Option 3/4”.
  • Significant experience or qualifications in current legislation, technical standards & specifications, codes of practice and recommendations relating to electric distribution systems.
  • Line management experience.

Conditions of Employment

  • Required to participate in a standby rota.
  • Require a driving licence.
