Multi Utility Project Manager

Role Purpose

Responsible for the installation of utility networks for a portfolio of projects. This includes managing customer relations, construction teams, and contractors to ensure networks are built safely, correctly specified, and to customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of gas, water, fibre, electricity and potentially district heating mains, services, and associated meters.
  • Ensure health and safety matters for installation and commissioning of utility networks and that employees and contractors work safely following approved procedures, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Maintain courteous, professional, and knowledgeable behaviour; be readily contactable and provide swift responses to enquiries from customers and employees.
  • Liaise with customers to manage complaints or issues arising from works and ensure customer satisfaction without compromising safety and quality.
  • Promote a positive safety culture with colleagues, engineering teams, and contractors; instill behavioural safety culture and progress along the ‘Bradley curve’.
  • Assist recruitment and induction of new engineering teams in compliance with Group procedures; manage HR matters and conduct performance reviews with direct reports.
  • Support Regional Construction Manager or Senior Project Manager with health & safety incident investigations and efficiency initiatives.
  • Train customers’ site managers to ensure competence in managing installations; ensure correct materials are ordered, stored, and waste minimised.
  • Carry out any other duties deemed appropriate by the Regional Construction Manager or Senior MUPM.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience and/or relevant qualifications.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, technical standards, codes of practice, and guidance notes for gas, electricity, water, or fibre distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • Practical working knowledge of other utilities to support safe and efficient network construction.

Abilities and Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, customer-focused, and highly driven with a strong commitment to health, safety, and quality.
  • Proactive approach to project management and delivery.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Authorising Engineer registration (gas), Senior Authorised Person (electric), or NCO3 (water) qualifications.
  • Current NRSWA supervisory card, relevant SHEA card, and CSCS registration.
  • Engineering or Project Management qualification.
  • Health and Safety qualification.
