GTC, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, are looking for a Water Testing Assistant who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.
Purpose of this role
The purpose of this position is to test, chlorinate and take samples to facilitate the commissioning of new Water Networks across England and Wales.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Exercise safe working practices at all times in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974), wearing the correct PPE at all times.
- Assisting the water testing engineer to pressure test, chlorinate and commission water infrastructure, ensuring that all work is undertaken to a high standard of safety and technical quality by following all appropriate generic and specific method statements, work procedures and safety instructions.
- Have a full and comprehensive understanding of all incumbent and IWNL Testing, chlorinating, and Sampling procedures, under the guidance of the water testing engineer.
- Assisting the water testing engineer on Final Connections (Primary tie‑ins complex and non‑complex) – it is expected that if not already qualified to do so this will be a part of the development plan for your personal and business objectives.
- Assisting the water testing engineer on Secondary Connections (complex and non‑complex).
- Accept delivery of plant and materials and check fitness for purpose prior to use.
- Ensure vehicles, plant and equipment remain in good condition, and report any defects to the Team Leader/Project Manager.
- Assisting the water testing engineer to identify at an early stage all contract variations and report to the Project Manager and work in accordance with the company Variation and Deviations Procedure.
- Complete site‑specific risk assessments daily and ensure maintenance of a safe working environment, under the guidance of the water testing engineer.
- Attend Toolbox Talks and other training courses as required, under the guidance of the water testing engineer.
- Record accurately details of work undertaken.
- Submit relevant work details for recording and invoicing in the required timescale.
- Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Project Manager that fall within the general experience scope of the individual.
Qualifications
- Water Safety Passport.
- Water Hygiene.
Experience / Knowledge
- Water Industry Construction.
- Desirable NRSWA.
- Machine Excavation (up to 10 T).
- Final Connections.
- Secondary Connections.
- NCO2 / 3 Main Laying / Service Laying or Equivalent.
- Experience of Water Mains, Testing, Chlorination and Sampling.
- Street works card.
Conditions of Employment
- You will hold a driving licence.
- You will be required to participate in a standby rota.
