We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to support a high-profile government programme. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in cloud infrastructure, automation, and modern DevOps practices, working within a secure and highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines and delivery automation solutions
- Manage and optimise Git-based source control workflows across engineering teams
- Operate and support production systems on AWS
- Implement and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Develop automation and tooling using Python to improve operational efficiency
- Support live services including incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
- Work closely with engineering teams to improve deployment reliability and developer experience
- Apply a structured, evidence-led approach to diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience in DevOps or Platform Engineering roles
- Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
- Strong knowledge of Git-based workflows and source control best practices
- Commercial experience operating workloads in AWS (preferred cloud provider)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
- Strong proficiency in Python for automation and tooling
- Experience supporting production-grade cloud environments
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a structured approach
Desirable Experience
- Experience within government or highly regulated environments
- Containerisation and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Observability tools (logging, monitoring, alerting, tracing)
- Improving developer experience and platform reliability at scale
