Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Graduate Transport Planner role based in Burgess Hill. The Graduate Transport Planner will support the preparation of transport assessments, travel plans, and technical reports for a range of development projects. Day-to-day tasks include data collection and analysis, assisting with junction capacity assessments, and contributing to transport modelling work under guidance from senior colleagues. The role involves liaising with internal teams, contributing to project meetings, and supporting the preparation of drawings, figures, and presentation materials. The successful candidate will also help respond to local authority and client queries, ensuring work is delivered to agreed timescales and quality standards while developing professional skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Transportation Planning and Transport Modelling, with an interest in applying these skills to real-world development projects.
  • Understanding of Transportation Management and Operations Management principles, ideally with exposure to transport policy, networks, and highway operations.
  • Effective Communication skills, including clear written reporting and confident interpersonal skills for engaging with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Relevant degree (or near completion) in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to work accurately with numerical data, including basic proficiency in MS Excel and other analysis tools; familiarity with industry-standard transport software is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a project-based environment.
  • Willingness to learn, openness to feedback, and interest in building a long-term career in transport planning and development infrastructure.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to commute to Burgess Hill for on-site work.
