We are looking for a candidate located in the Kent, East Sussex, Surrey.
What's in it for you
To install, maintain and repair Thermo King and other manufacturer’s transport refrigeration equipment, in line with published guidance.
Adhering to company policies and safe working practices for self and others, at all times.
To Monitor, inspect and assess fleet condition and operation making suggestions for corrective action where appropriate.
Identify key revenue opportunities and work with other MFS employees to ensure retention of existing and development of new business.
The desired locations are in and around Southend-on-Sea and Essex, extending up to Milton Keynes, Hampshire, and Slough.
What you will do
- Installation, servicing, and repair of vehicle powered (diesel engine) road transport refrigeration units, limiting costs of stock used on contract accounts and maximising revenue generation in all areas.
- Optimise and maintain engineer van stock to maintain and enhance service delivery to MFS customers.
- Ensure relevant safety checks are carried out on the company van daily.
- Maintain product and customer requirements knowledge to meet ISO9001 standards.
- Undertaking company training (at our dedicated training centre in Ashton, Wigan) and self-development through the Certi-Tech certification process.
- To liaise with central control and/or the service centre regarding job start and completion times, downtime and overtime authorisation, cost updates and customer purchase orders.
- Complete all relevant paperwork and on-line (PDA) requirements enabling central control and invoicing to maintain a high standard of customer interface – keeping the customer informed.
- Assist with planning of installations and undertake installations and commissioning.
- Perform other duties and projects which correspond to the general character of the position.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures in line with company policies, Health & safety procedures and ISO9001 standards.
- Apprentices and or engineers in training (EIT) may be supervised where applicable.
- Ensure customer service is a priority and conduct & corporate image (self, van, tools, spares) are first rate.
- What you will bring
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with at least 3 grade C’s or above.
- Qualified to 2078 Refrigerant Handling and 2079 F‑Gas.
- Experienced in Electrics including 3 phase and brazing certified.
- Ideally Completed Apprenticeship in Refrigeration /Air Conditioning /Commercial Time Served as a Refrigeration/ Air Conditioning or Commercial Engineer with at least 5 Years’ experience.
- Able to work on own initiative in a safe and professional manner maintaining Customers units and Company property to the Highest Standards.
- Commercial experience on mechanics including engines, compressors, and hydraulics.
- IT literate (Microsoft Office), PDA use.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Numerate, literate, methodical, systematic.
- Attention to detail and target driven.
- Customer Service Skills & Relationship building skills.
- Punctuality and efficiency.
- Clean UK driving licence.
- Extensive travel required, including overnight stays and working on customer sites.
- Needs to be physically fit to perform required tasks. Participation in additional on call roster, including overtime, working nights and weekends.
- Thermo King Basic Refrigeration course to be completed
- Thermo King Basic Electrics course to be completed
- Thermo King Certi-Tech Bronze and above to be completed
- Thermo King Electrical Diagnostics (AC and DC) course to be completed
- Thermo King thermostats, controllers, data logger’s competence
